Meet the Team - Carrie Benavides
Carrie Benavides
With an enormous love for people and a relentless urge to help in times of need, Carrie strives to find rewarding work and opportunities to make an impact in her community. After completing graduate school, Carrie serendipitously found employment in the nonprofit sector that proved to serve her soul perfectly.
She began her nonprofit career working with United Way as a volunteer coordinator for community programs. Years later, a new opportunity opened up and she jumped at the chance to work with a friend at the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in the special events department helping to fund childhood cancer research. In early 2020, she seized an opportunity to return to United Way for the very same programs many years prior. Then came the pandemic only two weeks into her return, making her role with in-person volunteer events and programs obsolete. Carrie quickly transitioned into a newly needed area which helped families and children who were financially affected by the pandemic with rental and utility assistance. After a few years at United Way, she received and happily accepted an offer to work at MaxLove Project helping improve the quality of life for families facing childhood cancers.
Her heart is dedicated and connected to health-focused nonprofits. Carrie is ready to bring her extensive nonprofit experience with programs, events, fundraising, outreach, recruitment, and volunteer management to AiArthritis.
Outside of work, she loves travelling, attending music concerts, and watching soccer with her husband and two sons.
