Global Awareness

By focusing on this group of diseases, and listening to every persons' experience living with them, we believe we can change the stories of tomorrow to be those of early diagnosis, personalized treatments, common remission, and a world that understands the type of arthritis associated with our diseases. Our work will help to make this a reality.

To get people talking about the type of arthritis associated with having an autoimmune or autoinflammatory disease, we designed and trademarked this symbol , which will be used on various pieces of merchandise launching soon. Our hope is the symbol will trigger inquiries, which in turn will promote conversation about our type of arthritis.

Awareness Months and Days

While we recognize all awareness days and months celebrated in our community, our organization is the host of two: World AiArthritis Day (#AiArthritisDay) on May 20th and Still's Disease Awareness Day on September 7th.

World AiArthritis Day (#AiArthritis Day)

May 20th

AiArthritis Day was established by our organization  in 2012 to raise global awareness about autoimmune & autoinflammatory diseases with arthritis as a major component .

The event is celebrated for the duration of May 20th as it travels through all time zones globally, uniting dozens of nonprofits, advocates, and experts from around the world who raise awareness about these diseases. While anyone can choose how to raise awareness to honor this day, the official event has an auto racing theme, putting the "AUTO" in autoimmune and autoinflammatory.

Historically the event has engaged over 100,000 people in over 60 countries, potentially setting a record for any online single event ever held in the AiArthritis community. AiArthritis Day is recognized on over two dozen health calendars internationally.

Still's Disease Awareness Day (#StillsDay)

September 7th

This day was established originally by the International Still's Disease Foundation (ISDF) to raise awareness for Still’s Disease.   Upon their dissolve on September 7th, 2017, we were asked to house their programs and resources.  We proudly accepted and now we are the official Hosts of this awareness initiative.

The  #MyStills Campaign.  For too long, those living with Still's - and their families - have experienced delays in detection and diagnosis partly because early symptoms and clinical disease features are uniquely blended to each persons' journey. Understanding how Stills affects the general population - and the individual - is key to expediting awareness, diagnosis, research and potential remission. In conjunction with Still's Day 2020, we launched educational disease videos and patient-reported disease brochures.
