"At our organization, you can

have a seat 'at the table' while

changing the world from your sofa."

Loved ones, friends, and others who care about this cause can contribute - from sharing their experiences, questions, and concerns to donating their time to develop or manage our projects or by simply hosting a fundraiser.

Community.  Volunteers are at the heart of all we do, without their passion and dedication to advancing education, advocacy, and research, we could not achieve our goals to change the future. From the moment a volunteer joins our team, they become part of a community - and a family.

Flexible . Since we were developed by those living with these diseases, we know flexibility is key.  First, we conduct the majority of our work through virtual collaboration (no physical offices), so if you have access to the internet, you can volunteer.  Also, we are open 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year, which enables anyone – located anywhere in the world and regardless of physical limitations – to be part of our work.  Matter-in-fact, we often say, "Patients with our organization can change the world from their sofa."  This is also a great model for non-patients, who can benefit from giving time when best for them!

Empowering. Our core leaders are "at the table", serving on advisory panels, participating as research liaisons, and using their stories to influence policy and education.  Many also have extensive backgrounds in business, education, and research and serve as mentors to those who want to use their voices to do more.  But you do not have to have any professional or patient advocacy experience to volunteer with us   - whether the CEO or the newest volunteer, your voice matters and is heard!

“These diseases can be isolating, particularly if you live in a rural area. I love volunteering for this organization because it can be done absolutely anytime, on any schedule, even on the couch.  Plus, I know I am with people who know how to take action to make things better for future generations."

"I love being part of a team of people who understand what it’s like to live with these diseases.  We communicate, using our creative minds, business skills, and experiences as patients to be problem solvers.  Being part of something this innovative is awesome."

Judith F.

"I like being with this group because I know that even though there are opportunities to help write papers or work on research,  I can still advocate the way that is best for me. So I share my opinions and help raise money that I know will help us all!"
